Aerodynamic Design
The IONIQ offers stunning aerodynamic design resulting in outstanding fuel economy, but without the compromise of looking like a science experience. Key features include active air flaps in the front grille that dynamically adjust to driving conditions, open to allow greater airflow for engine cooling in stop-and-go traffic, and then closing for better aerodynamics at sustained cruising speeds. In addition, the sporty lower front fascia features integrated wheel air curtains that help direct air over and around the front wheels to minimize turbulence and wind resistance for greater fuel efficiency and smoother ride.

By using a full-parallel hybrid drive system, the IONIQ hybrid can run on a gasoline internal combustion engine, an electric motor or both. This provides you with more optimized power and improved fuel economy by allowing the engine and electric motor to supply power simultaneously or independently. The IONIQ hybrid features a 1.6L Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine that is paired with a 32kW electric motor to deliver efficient cruising. A class-exclusive 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission further enhances efficiency and provides instant engine feedback for unparalleled responsiveness.

All IONIQ models store their electrical energy in a highly advanced lithium-ion polymer battery.
